ProXPN helps avoiding restrictions on Internet navigation as those implemented in schools and workplaces as well as preserving your privacy. It does so by creating a VPN, which allows it to bypass proxy blacklists. Similarly, you can use a fake IP address and prevent websites to track your real location.
The application is very simple to use. However, you need to create a proXPN account to log in to the service. A basic account allows connecting only to free servers and has bandwidth restrictions, which is why if you want to benefit from all the advantages of this tool, you need to spend some money on opening a Premium account. Once you have logged in, you are allowed to choose one of the available servers located around the world. Likewise, you can also select a transport protocol from UDP and TCP according to your specific needs.
While it is true that the program can help you protect your privacy from third-parties, when you open the required account, you might be compromising your security as all traces of your navigation and sensitive data may be stored on the proXPN servers.
All in all, proXPN wouldn´t be my first choice to navigate the web anonymously and without restrictions. In fact, when I tried using the service with a free account, there was only one server available, and much worse than that, it didn´t allow me to connect, so actually I never got to test the service.
- It is easy to use
- It allows selecting a server
- It lets you choose a transport protocol
- It is very customizable
- It requires creating an account
- Free accounts seem not to work properly
